The Thrill of Bulk Listings and Liquidations!
Okay, I’m going to let you in on a little know secret… you ready? If you have an ounce of entrepreneurship in your body… you need to honestly look into buying Bulk at Auctions. Hopefully I won’t have to repeat myself on this one. Now, it might be a little hard to get started if you live in an apartment. Some ventures you can start at your kitchen table, but this one is ideal for those that have a basic garage that could double for an at home warehouse.
How simple could it be to buy bulk good at auction and then resell them at ridiculously low price for huge profits. Buy low…. Sell High. Retailers hate items aging and sitting in their inventory… unless its fine wine or gold bullions or something else that get better with time. It actually cost more than it’s worth when valuable storage space is used to hold old outdated merchandise. Take for example you had a warehouse full of VHS players and Tape cassettes, taking up space where wireless headphones and Rokus could be stored for sale. The longer you hold on to those pallets of Tape Cassettes (some reading this may have never seen a tape cassette), the more money you lose from missing sales of a product people actually want and need. To lessen the scenario of overstock depreciation smart retailer group merchandise together and auction it off in bulk. Got it!
One major problem is that most people that take this journey fail to consider a few important intangibles. There are hidden cost to making all of this worth while even after you win your first load. Most would agree that shipping expense is somewhere near the top if not at the top of the list. Say you won an auction for $1000, you’re excited because you just won 2 bedroom sets, a Sofa bed, and a dinning room table. The payload is going to take up 6 Pallets to get it to you and it’s coming 1600 miles from where you live. You’re having it delivered to your home so you don’t have a shipping dock… you know, the docks trucks back up to at a warehouse and a guy is waiting there with a forklift. Now you need to order a special truck with a lift gate to lower the good from the truck to the street in front of your house. You find out the shipping cost is over the $1000 you spent for the load you just brought… there goes your profit; you could end up losing money if you’re not careful.
But what if you won bulk auctions in the city where you live… like right here in Casa Grande? Gone are the shipping fees, you can probably find someone locally to pick those items up for less than $100. You can make arrangements to view before you buy and better yet you can even turn around and sell those item on the same auction site you brought them from. Shipping is one of the major reason retailers don’t sell their overstock in auctions. They do have the time to deal with postage, putting together pallets and manifests. So they have sidewalk sales or sale to thrift stores and some…. Shhhhhh “throw stuff away” – But you didn’t hear it from me.
So, join you local community in making Bulk Sales and Liquidation a success here in Casa Grande!
